Emergency Services Instructors

In 1994, the Board of Directors of the Wisconsin Society of Fire Service Instructors decided to establish a training scholarship program. The scholarship fund was named after William E. Clark, a Wisconsin fire service training pioneer. Two awards ($2500.00 and $1000.00) will be granted for use during the 2025/2026 school year. These individual scholarships will be given to students enrolled in an Associate Degree, Bachelor’s Degree, or Master’s Degree program. The scholarships aim to further the fire service education of members of the Wisconsin Society of Emergency Services Instructors or their dependents.

 

1. Please follow all application instructions carefully; incomplete and illegible applications will not be considered.

2. Applicants must be Wisconsin Society of Emergency Services Instructors (WSESI) members or their dependents. (Applicant or sponsor must have three years active membership)

3. Applicants will be screened for those who desire Associate, Baccalaureate, or Master’s degrees in fire-related areas, such as fire administration, fire science, or public administration.

4. Leadership abilities, financial need, academic capability, and personal goals to serve the public are areas that will be judged by the Scholarship Committee.

5. All award monies will be sent directly to the school of entry in the selected individual’s name after class acceptance and must be used between August 2025 and September 2026.

6. Awardees will be eligible to apply for additional assistance in succeeding years.

7. All applicants are required to submit their most recent high school and college transcripts, along with a one-page autobiographical sketch. The sketch should include details about any fire-related courses you have taken, as well as your future career goals related to fire service education and associated costs.

8. Applications will be screened, and three scholarship committee members may interview a field of selected candidates. Their recommendations will be forwarded to the Board of Trustees of the William E. Clark Memorial Education Endowment Fund Charitable Trust, whose decision for awards will be final.

9. All applications must be received by April 1, 2025. The Board of Trustees of the William E. Clark Memorial Education Endowment Fund Charitable Trust will make the final decision at its spring meeting based on the Scholarship Committee's recommendation, and successful students will be notified.
